Finally, the long wait is over for the program of Bachelor of Information Technology (BSIT) at Laguna University when it officially received its Level 1 accreditation certificate from the Commission on Accreditation for Local Colleges and Universities (ALCUCOA) in an awarding ceremony last September 22, 2021.
During the presentation and confirmation of accreditation, University President Dr. Charlemagne G. Laviña said “My vision for Laguna University is to become the leading local university in CALABARZON to continuously improve the quality of instruction”
Since December 2019, BSIT, together with other programs of LU, had been undergoing series of accreditation visits by the ALCUCOA. BSIT finally got the accreditation status for Level 1 awarded by the President and Executive Director of ALCUCOA – Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega after being thoroughly evaluated in accordance with the commission’s standards.
Dr. Arcega commended the academic stakeholders of LU for their perseverance and commitment in giving the best service and quality education for the Lagunenses. He also emphasized that the level 1 accreditation means a renewal of commitment to the vision and mission of Laguna University. Dr. Arcega ended his talk by saying that the vision is the end, and the end is the beginning. Before the ceremony ended, Dr. Laviña proudly informed the audience that the Board of Regents headed by the Laguna Governor, Hon. Ramil L. Hernandez approved the additional supplemental budget of P30 million for the procurement and purchase of laboratory equipment which includes computer laboratories for the students of BSIT as one of the mandatory requirements of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the ALCUCOA.
