“Ang pagiging isang leader ay hindi sa kung anong posisyon mayroon ka, o sa kung anong dami ng achievement ang meron ka. Ang pagiging isang leader ay yung tipong kayang tumindig hindi para sa pansarili lamang, kundi para sa lahat.”
These are the lines from Joshua Consebido, incoming Laguna University Central Student Council President, following his proclamation as Vice President for External of the Junior Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) during the PAGTATALAGA 2022, held at One Tagaytay Hotel Suites, Tagaytay City, June 6-7.
The said intensive course on Student Leadership Development Program hosted by the ALCU-Philippines and ALCU Academy in partnership with University of Makati allowed the outgoing Communication Circle President to interact with more than 200 student-leaders all over the country.
According to Consebido, they have learned about the core concepts of student leadership as well as the essentials of program management with emphasis on planning, executing and evaluating events which can be used in hosting activities.
“It was a great pleasure for me to attend such an extraordinary event like this. I was impressed by all the speakers, which was very inspiring. In general, I enjoyed the social event very much including the opening and even more the closing ceremony, where I had the opportunity to meet and talk with some student leaders from all over 47 different colleges or universities who attended in this event,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, Consebido ensures that he will apply these key learnings as he fulfills his duty as LU-CSC President for Academic Year 2022-2023. “Let’s be MAD (Making A Difference) and start leaving our legacies. Let’s be part of the SolYOUtion, not the problem. And be a BOBO (Bringing Out the Best in Others), with that, we can proudly say that we are good leader,” Consebido said.
Lastly, he extended his immense gratitude to LU Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bartolome T. Tanguilig III, LU Office of the Student Affairs and Services Director Mrs. Emelyn Napiza, and LU Student Prefect of Activities and CSC Adviser Mrs. Flor Minas for their utmost support during the event.
