In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month 2022 last October, the Human Resources Management Office of Laguna University spearheaded a seminar-workshop in line with the theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health: “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.”
Faculty, Staff, and Officials gathered at the Audio-Visual Room of the RLH (New) Building and via Zoom video-conferencing last October 27, 2022 for said Learning and Development (L&D) activity. Topics on mental and physical health (Stress Reduction Management, Psychological First Aid, Hypertension Prevention and Control, and Diabetes Prevention and Control) were discussed clearly by in-house speakers.
The speakers, Ms. Gean Paulene S. Rivera, RPm (HRMO I) and Dr. Rona Robles (Medical Officer III), highlighted how important it is to practice a wholesome lifestyle to prevent the development of more critical conditions that could compromise the quality of life. They stated that early management of signs and symptoms is the best way to achieve overall well-being and to be able to live life to the fullest.
It was inexorable for them to discuss the significant connection between mental and physical health, along with the cliche sayings “Health is Wealth” and “Prevention is better than cure” as it speaks nothing but the truth on human health.
As the activity concluded, participants were encouraged to create their personalized stress management technique anchored on the discussion and workshop, along with lifestyle modifications to prevent or control their physical health concerns as deemed necessary.
