The Laguna University College of Engineering continues to unfold varieties of innovative concepts for the
third time through an insightful research colloquium, adhering to the campus’ motto –Integrity towards
Excellence, November 25.
The event is themed “Designs and Innovations towards Industry 4.0”, featuring two respected
international keynote speakers; Dr. Christian Della from the University of Glasgow, and Dr. Ryan
Evangelista, Senior Consultant of Quantum Systems in Singapore. It aims to provide new information,
present a forum with wider dissemination of ideas, and enhance students’ skills by giving them exposure
to an academic atmosphere.
Lots of innovative designs were presented by selected students and have garnered praises, suggestions,
and questions from the speakers. This includes ideas in technological elevations in refrigeration,
agriculture, production, etc. all of which share a vision to improve such areas where the advancement of
technology and knowledge is deprived.
“As we know, the Philippines’ agricultural and farming industry, has been thwarted to outdated processes
and machinery.”, said Daryl Tolentino, one of the presenters, when asked about the inspiration behind
their research. “We really want to help the rice mill operators and piggery and poultry owners by giving
them a machine to pulverize the rice husks and make them feed.”, he added.
With this big-time event, a huge step has been granted to every budding innovation. And with that step,
excellence awaits when the industry starts to progress to a higher level of competence.
